We are often asked about the nickel and chromium content in our cutlery.
The majority of aida’s cutlery is made from 18/0 stainless steel, which contains:
18% chromium
0% nickel
This means that most of our cutlery does not contain nickel.

The exception is the ENSO range, which is made from 18/10 stainless steel and therefore contains:
18% chromium
10% nickel

What do 18/0 and 18/10 mean?
These numbers indicate how much chromium and nickel are present in stainless steel.
18/0 steel = 18% chromium and 0% nickel
18/10 steel = 18% chromium and 10% nickel
The first number shows the amount of chromium, while the second number shows the amount of nickel. 18% chromium is the industry standard for cutlery and ensures a durable material suitable for everyday use.
